Why is Microsoft Word 2007 assuming I'm using the Queen's English?
When I go to "Control Panel–>Regional and Language Options–>Regional Options" (in Windows XP Pro) the selected standard is "English (United States)" and the selected location is "United States". I have not changed this setting at any recent time, if ever.
However, when I insert a date in Word, the default language is "English (UK)", and the spell checker flags the word "labor", suggesting "labour" instead.
How do I get Word to use U.S. settings?
Well, I went in to Word Options–>Language Settings, and guess what is he only selected language? It’s "English (U.S.)" Does that make any sense?

click the ball in the top left corner,
now goto word options(at the bottom)
then choose your language settings

do like Shiloh said, go to control panel, and change to whichever language you want, ensure you click on APPLY, that should make it your default.

Go into your Word – go to Tools – Language – set language. Make sure you delete English Uk and add English US or make that your default. I have Office 2003 but i think its the same for 07.
