Talk a car dealer down $3000?
Alright, well I’m looking at this 2001 Pontiac Firebird. It looks pretty sweet, ram air hood and some kind of (custom?) front bumper, and I’d really like to buy it. However, it’s priced WAY too high, and has nothing much special that makes it different from other v6 Firebirds besides the bumper. It has 93,000 miles, 5 previous owners and has been in a fender bender. It’s priced at about ,000. I’ve seen a Firebird with 2/3 the miles, no accidents and 2 owners (but without the neat front bumper or hood) priced at 00. Also a white convertible with 2/3 the miles for k. Also the k car is manual and the 7.9 and 9 are autos. On the k, one of the lights on the front doesn’t work, but that’s probably easily and cheaply fixable. The NADA price for the Firebird clean retail is 00.
So pretty much what I’m asking, is do car dealers intentionally price cars way too high? And is there any way to talk him down 00-00 on the car? There’s no way that thing is worth ,000…

"There’s no way that thing is worth $10,000.."
Says who? You? Nada is a GUIDE. It is NOT a set in stone value of a vehicle. Which is why you will 100% of the time find vehicles listed higher, or lower than what they list.
If they wanted to price it at $100,000, that’s their prerogative.
As far as talking them down 3,000….
Let’s say you were selling something. Would you knock 30% off your asking price, just because a buyer told you that it wasn’t worth what you feel it is?
No, you’d kick them off your property for being insulting, and likely call them a retard.
Expect the same.

let it sit, they will come down on the price if no one buys it. Value is what someone is willing to pay for it, and someone out there may be willing to pay $10k for that car.

Thing is, it’s a kids car… a kid will pay it… low ball him 4 grand lower and let him come to you…

Make a CASH offer for whatever you want to pay. Having greenbacks in hand helps a GREAT DEAL.
NADA doesn’t buy or sell cars.
Dealers that finance their own cars have to overprice them to make up for the bad credit risks.
Others ask more knowing some people feel better about "talking them down $1500" than actually paying $1500 over retail.
I was a car dealer for over 15 years and Ive never known of any dealer willing to come down 30%.
The question is…if you can find other cars priced better, buy them !
Or make an offer and walk away. The dealer doesn’t make a dime unless he sells you a car.
"custom" stuff can increase the value of a car despite what some "book" says.
