The Star Spangled banner is an awful song about our flag. The melody is awful and it is very awkward to sing.
"America the Beautiful" is a lovely song and is actually about the United States!! Not just the darn flag!! Who’s with me!?!? Write your congressperson!!

Do you ever take off your headgear (cap, hat, etc.) and hold on to it with your hand when standing at your feet hearing your national anthem "God Save the Queen"? In the United States, we men who wear head gears take them off hand place them on our left chest or left shoulder when either pledging our allegiance to our national flag or hearing our national anthem "The Star-Spangled Banner". Have you Brits took off your headgear during your national anthem?

Do illegal Aliens pause and respect the singing of the Star Spangled Banner?

At many sporting events I see many hispanics who fail to acknowledge the singing of the Nation anthem and would like to know if this a sign of disrespect to our flag. I see many Mexican flags flying all over the Southwest united States.

Why is Microsoft Word 2007 assuming I'm using the Queen's English?

When I go to "Control Panel–>Regional and Language Options–>Regional Options" (in Windows XP Pro) the selected standard is "English (United States)" and the selected location is "United States". I have not changed this setting at any recent time, if ever.

However, when I insert a date in Word, the default language is "English (UK)", and the spell checker flags the word "labor", suggesting "labour" instead.

How do I get Word to use U.S. settings?
Well, I went in to Word Options–>Language Settings, and guess what is he only selected language? It’s "English (U.S.)" Does that make any sense?

Im from an area with Majority immigrants from Mexico–everyday I see people buying groceries wearing designer clothes and paying with EBT Welfare cards and loading their groceries into Luxery SUV’s. I see immigrations showing up at a Turkey plant in town (Jennie-O) and hauling illegals away. Then two days later they have an ad on the internet looking for employees and the hire more illegal aliens. Why is this not being dealt with more seriously?

Does this bother anyone else?

Anyone else notice on the bottom of this page where you can look at
Yahoo Answers on international sites there is a Flag for Mexico, A Flag For Spain and A Flag for United States. Cool Right? But what I find riduculous is that they have an American Flag last in the line with en Espanol on it……
And no im not ANTI Spanish, I just find it a little bit sad that the’ve labeled America as a Hispanic country.

i think it means a numerous amount of things. I think being patriotic means to appreciate, respect, love and most of all to support your country. If you march in parades, support the troops, donate, sing the star spangled banner and wave an American flag soaring in the air proudly that also shows patriotism for the United States(or country that you live in).

what do you think it means?

To black African Americans…would you want to live in Africa?

I ask this in all seriousness. I ve learned alot over my 40 years about how slavery has hurt the blacks/African Americans for more than a century. I feel slavery was/is very wrong. But, I see many act very overly proud of there heritage and fly there respective African countrys flag and take on the black African cultural things such as wearing Dasheekis(sp.) and adapting certain rituals to their lives here in the ‘somewhat United’ States. Once again, I think slavery was/is bad and wrong. So why dont African Americans want to move back to Africa? They call it the ‘motherland’ .Do you feel that Africa is where your heart is? Maybe its just too hard to buy a house or get a paying job or go to college or get medical attention or go to the mall in all the 3rd world countries of Africa, so you stay in the land of milk and honey. Given all you know now , was slavery a necessary evil for the advancement of the black race or would you rather it never happened and still be in Africa?

Since the flag represents the confederacy in the civil war, the states that wanted to separate themselves from the United States, and they lost, are people that still "pride themselves" by flying the flag disrespecting the rest of the country?

Or are they just into college sports, and watching old Dukes Of Hazzard reruns?
Nobody’s suggesting they should stop. What is it that they are proud of? Are they just giving the US the finger?
