Orioles Tickets to a Baseball Game of Frenzied Excitement

Orioles Tickets to a Baseball Game of Frenzied Excitement

Baseball lovers are ready to give an eye and a tooth to get Orioles tickets this season. Based in Baltimore, Maryland, the Baltimore Orioles, a professional baseball team are a member of the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball’s American League. The unique name “Orioles” is the name of a bird; hence the team is also nicknamed as ‘the Birds’. Their ballpark from year 1992 till date has been the Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Early History

The Orioles have an interesting history. Way back in 1894, they were known as the Milwaukee Brewers of Western League. The year 1902 saw the team shifting to St. Louis and becoming the St. Louis Browns. The Browns practiced in the Sportsman’s Park and the Cardinals were their arch rivals. The Browns are most remembered for their role in the race for the American League batting title in year 1910, when Coach Harry Howell tried to bribe the official scorer.

In 1916, the Browns exchanged hands, being sold to Philip DeCatesby Ball. Some of the best players then were George Sisler, Ken Williams, Baby Doll Jacobson, and Jack Tobin. In 1944, the Browns won the American League pennant but after 1945, the Browns never had another winning season in St. Louis. In 1951, Bill Veeck purchased the Browns. Shortly, starving for funds, Veeck sold the Browns to a Baltimore-based group led by Clarence Miles and Jerry Hofberger. Under them, a shift in 1954 to Baltimore gave the team a new face as the Orioles.

The New Face Of The Orioles

Baltimoreans welcomed the Orioles with open arms. They bought Orioles tickets with fervor. It took the Orioles about six years to become competitive. By the 1960s, baseball players such as Brooks Robinson, John “Boog” Powell, and Dave McNally took the team to great heights. The Orioles won their first American League championship in 1966 defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers. From 1966 to 1983, the Orioles won three World Series titles, six American League pennants, and five American League Eastern Division titles making them a highly winning baseball team. During this period, Frank Robinson, Boog Powell and Cal Ripken, Jr. were their most valuable players. Weaver Ball gave the team a further boost.

The Last Two Decades And The Orioles

But after 1983, the Orioles started on a downslide. This losing streak shocked the baseball world through the 1980s. Peter Angelos bought the Baltimore Orioles in 1993 and hired Pat Gillick as GM who brought several players like B.J. Surhoff, Roberto Alomar and Randy Myers into the team. From them on, the Orioles showed an upturn and went on the win the AL East Division title in 1997.

The GMs changed in quick succession from Frank Wren, Syd Thrift, Mike Hargrove to Lee Mazzilli. Rafael Palmeiro, Roberto Alomar, and Eric Davis were the star players of the Orioles in the 1990s. Most sports lovers bought Orioles tickets to watch them scorch the ground.

In 1999, the Orioles were the first Major League team to stage an exhibition game against the Cuban national team in Havana. A few years later, the 2005 season had an early good start but felt apart for the Orioles in the face of injuries to Luis Matos, Lopez, Sosa, Brian Roberts, and Larry Bigbie. In the 2006 season, the Orioles recorded 70 wins and a whopping 92 losses. Now too, though the 2008 season has been lacking luster, as the Yankees and Red Sox are in top form against the Orioles, fans have not yet given up. They are buying the Orioles tickets, ready to cheer the team as they play. As time is short, you can get your Orioles tickets from an online broker. Join the hot excitement of baseball with the Orioles.

Get New York Yankees Tickets to Watch the World Champions Live

Get New York Yankees Tickets to Watch the World Champions Live

You should get your New York Yankees tickets to watch the Yankees, the all-time world champions who have won over 26 World Series championships and 39 American League Pennants. Based in the New York City, the Yankees are a professional baseball team. They are a member of the Eastern Division of American League. The Yankees club was founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1901. Known previously as the Baltimore Orioles, and later as the New York Highlanders, the team got their current name in 1913. From 1923 till date the Yankees ball park has been the Yankee Stadium.

Yankees, Yesterday And Today

Nicknamed as “the Bronx Bombers” and “the Bombers”, the team began playing as Baltimore Orioles in 1901. When Frank J. Farrell and William S. Devery moved the team to New York, the team came to be known as the New York Highlanders. Years 1904, 1906 and 1910 were successful for the Highlanders.

In 1913, the team came to be called exclusively as the New York Yankees.

Another 2 years later in 1915, the club was sold once more. The highlighting event of 1920s was the addition of Babe Ruth to the team, as a result of a tradeoff by the Red Sox. This phenomenon came to known as the ‘Curse of the Bambino’ as after Baby Ruth left, success eluded Red Sox for the next 86 years.

Ruth’s home runs proved so popular that the people bought more and more New York Yankees tickets to watch him play.

In 1921, the Yankees made their first World Series appearance and in 1923, they moved to their new home, Yankee Stadium where many fans enjoyed the baseball games with their New York Yankee tickets. The stadium was nicknamed “The House That Ruth Built”. From 1923 onward, the Yankees were the reigning baseball champions.

In 1930s, the Yankees rose to the top of the AL and even after Ruth retired, the Yankees did not lose their sheen. The team won an unprecedented four World Series wins from 1936 to 1939. Year 1951 marked the arrival of the “Oklahoma Kid” Mickey Mantle, a rising star who helped the team win the World Series five consecutive times from 1949-1953. In the 1950s, the Yankees won six World Series championships and eight American League pennants. Mantle, Ford, Berra, Elston Howard and Roger Maris were the star players of this period.

The year 1961 is also famous for the home runs of the “M&M Boys”. After 1964, CBS purchased 80% of the Yankees. Thereafter, the Yankees went on a downslide till 1974. Finally, shipbuilder George Steinbrenner bought the club from CBS in 1973 and renovated the Yankee Stadium to give a facelift to the team. Fans bought many New York Yankees tickets appreciating the change.

Throughout the late 1970s, there was close competition between the Yankees and the Red Sox. The Yankees had poor showing in the 1980s and 1990s. But shortly the farm system was adopted to buy talent and through it key players such as Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte, Bernie Williams, and Mariano Rivera were signed in.

By late 1990s, the Yankees had the best record in the AL ending the team’s 18-year championship drought to win the world championship. Through the early 2000s, the Yankees had a great league record in spite of losing key members such as Paul O’Neill, Tino Martinez, Scott Brosius, and Chuck Knoblauch.

Pitching problems plagued the team through 2006-07. However in 2008, the Yankees created history by bringing the first two professional baseball players from the People’s Republic of China to the MLB. In fact the 2008 season will be the last season played at historic Yankee Stadium, after which the team will move to the new Yankee Stadium. If you want to catch the Yankee magic live, go get your New York Yankee tickets. Just go online and grab some fabulous deals from an online broker.

Ny Yankees Tickets are Your Gateway to Baseball History!

Ny Yankees Tickets are Your Gateway to Baseball History!

NY Yankees tickets are your excitement-loaded passes to watch the Yankees fight it out on the baseball field. The Yankees have been world champions 26 times and also have 39 American League Pennants to their credit. The Yankees are a professional baseball team based in New York City. Currently they play as a member of the Eastern Division of Major League. It was way back in 1901 that the Yankees club was founded in Baltimore, Maryland. The Yankees have been previously known as the Baltimore Orioles, and as the New York Highlanders. Since 1923 till date, the Yankees have been playing their games at the Yankee Stadium, their ballpark.

The History Of The Yankees

The Yankees are oft nicknamed as “the Bronx Bombers” and “the Bombers” by their fans. Their first matches began in the early 1900s. Till 1913, the Yankees were called the Baltimore Orioles and later as the New York Highlanders. However, after 1913, the team came to be called as the New York Yankees.

A major event that started the good fortune of the Yankees was the induction of Baby Ruth in the team. Often referred to as the ‘Curse of the Bambino’, the Red Sox made a ‘faux-pas’ by trading off Baby Ruth in 1920. Fans believe that it was this foolish decision because of which the championship of the World Series eluded the Red Sox for the next 86 years. Ruth’s home runs were like nectar to the hungry bees [read ‘fans’]. They bought NY Yankees tickets to watch their favorite baseball hero hit many home runs.

In the year 1921, the Yankees made their first appearance in the World Series and by 1923; they shifted to their ballpark, the Yankee Stadium, where the team has been playing till date. The stadium was nicknamed “The House That Ruth Built”. If you want to know why, get your NY Yankees tickets and join the other fans to cheer the team. Watch them play; you will know why the Yankees are the reigning baseball champion team.

In the 1930s, the Yankees rose to the very top of the AL. In fact, even the retiring of Baby Ruth did not dampen their spirits. They won four World cups in that decade. “Oklahoma Kid” Mickey Mantle joined the team in late 1940s-early 1950 and was a major contributor to the team winning the World Series five times from 1949-1953. Mantle, Ford, Berra, Elston Howard and Roger Maris were the star players of the 1960s when the Yankees won more World Series championships and American League pennants.

Downslide And Up One More

Unfortunately in the early 1960s, the Yankees started to downslide right till 1970s. It was not till the time when shipbuilder George Steinbrenner bought the club from CBS and renovated the Yankee Stadium that the team got an impetus to rise above their low times. Fans bought many New York Yankees tickets to applaud their efforts.

Through the 1970s, the Red Sox were the biggest opponents of the NY Yankees.

The 1980s and 1990s were also whiled away without any winning of big baseball matches. Then the farm system through which talent was bought and traded was adopted and through it many fresh players joined the New York Yankees. Some of these players were Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte, Bernie Williams, and Mariano Rivera.

The Yankees started on an up-swing. By late 1990s, the Yankees had the best AL record. Their 18 year ‘no-show’ period ended and they stormed back into the baseball field at the start of the 21st century. Lately however pitching problems have been marring the team’s performance. But fans have great hopes both from the team and their first two professional baseball players from the People’s Republic of China. Little wonder they are all buying NY Yankees tickets. If you haven’t still got yours, get them from an online broker. Your NY Yankees tickets will be delivered right at your doorstep without any extra charges.

The author has a sports website which has many resources for all major teams as well as resources for NY Yankees Tickets updated daily with some news and information on games and venues as well as the best ways to get NY Yankees tickets for a baseball game.

Buy Oakland Athletics Tickets Online ? Book Tickets for a Spectacular Show!

Buy Oakland Athletics tickets online if you want to avoid the serpentine queues due to the huge popularity enjoyed by the Oakland Athletics – a professional baseball team based in Oakland, California. The team originated as a new franchise in the year 1901 in the American League. The Athletics, as they are commonly known as are the members of the Western Division of Major League’s Baseball’s American League.

The Teams’ Mascot

The Athletics are nicknamed as “The A’s”, now the trademark of the Athletics and also “The White Elephants”, the mascot of the team. The elephant retired as the Team’s mascot in 1963 and The Missouri Mule took its place- as per the wish of the then owner Charles O. Finley. The Elephant was again restored in the year 1988 and was marked on the left sleeve of the home and road uniforms.

The Winnings and Losses Of Oakland Athletics

The Athletics established themselves as one of the most prominent teams in the new league and won the A.L. pennant six times in the years 1902, 1905, 1910, 1911, 1913 and 1914. The team also won the World Series in 1910, 1911 and 1913. They also won over 100 games in 1911 and 1912 and 99 games in 1914. However, the team suffered a downfall in 1914 and lost the 1914 World Series to the Boston Braves. Several players of the team also decided to jump over before the World Series. The team was sold to a Chicago businessman, Arnold Johnson and the team was moved to Kansas City for the 1955 season. The Athletics won 63 games in 1955. After the stake in the team was bought by Charlie O. Finley, the team’s uniform that was originally blue or white and black or grey outfits was replaced by a red, navy blue and white color scheme. The colors were eventually changed to Kelly Green, Fort Knox Gold and Wedding Gown White.

During the 13 year stay of the team in Kansas City, the Athletics were one of the worst teams in Baseball history. The team moved back to Oakland in the year 1968 and in the year 1970, the A’s finally scored winnings. After a second-place finish in 1970, the A’s won the A.L. West title in 1971. The team however, lost to the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Championship Series. In 1972, the team won their first league pennant since 1931 and faced the Cincinnati Reds in the World Series.

The A’s lost in the American League Championship Series after winning the “first half” AL West Division. They landed up with the second-best overall record in baseball and the best record in the American League. The team set a record for a single season attendance and the average annual home attendance of over 1.9 million. The winnings ensured that anyone who would buy Oakland Athletics tickets would be in for a spectacular on-field performance.

The Star Players Of Oakland Athletics

The team was known for its “0,000 Infield”, consisting of John McInnis, Eddie Collins, Jack Barry, Frank Baker as well as pitchers Eddie Plank and Charles Bender. Rube Waddell was also one of the star performers of the team. In 1973 and 1974, players such as Reggie Jackson, Sal Bando, Joe Rudi, Bert Campaneris, Catfish Hunter, Rollie Fingers and Vida Blue formed the strength of the teams and ensured a fantastic game for anyone who would buy Oakland Athletics tickets.

Though the A’s have lost and won over several games, still their games have always been a treat for a baseball fanatic. Indy Racing League (IRL) Tickets – Going Out With a Bang

Indy Racing League (IRL) Tickets – Going Out With a Bang

The several twists and turns of this year’s IndyCar Series have provided entertainment and thrills of all kinds for IRL fans nationwide, and despite the 2008 season coming to a close the parties are just getting started for IndyCar drivers, teams and crew members alike. The conclusion of this year’s IRL season ended with the Nikon Indy 300 at the All Surfers Paradise Street Circuit in Queensland, Australia, and even though Team Penske’s Ryan Briscoe beat out Target Chip Ganassi’s Scott Dixon to win the race, it is Dixon who is being honored tonight in Las Vegas as the 2008 IndyCar Series champion.

A blowout awards ceremony will take place at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas tonight celebrating Dixon’s victory in the IndyCar Series, while Andretti Green Racing and AFS Racing’s number 27 driver Raphael Matos will also be honored at the celebration as the champion of the 2008 Firestone Indy Lights series. The Championship Celebration will take place at the Palms, and the after-party will commence at the resort’s Rain Nightclub following the presentation of checks and hardware to both Dixon and Matos.

Anyone who had Indy Racing League (IRL) tickets to one of the races this season knows it’s an understatement to say that the 2008 IndyCar Series was full of ups, downs and surprises of all kinds. The first surprise came in the unification of the IRL, as both the IRL and Champ Car finally settled and let the sport become whole again, tacking on six teams, two races and floods of fans to next year’s IndyCar series. Another gratifying shock in the 2008 season occurred with a handful of first-time winners in the league, most notably Danica Patrick winning her first race (other first-time winners included Ryan Briscoe, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Justin Wilson and Will Power.) Another drastic change to the league? The domino effect of drivers and teams that started with news of Tony Kanaan negotiating for Dan Wheldon’s ride at Target Chip Ganassi Racing and resulted in Wheldon’s switch to Panther Racing and Vitor Meira’s consequential switch to A.J. Foyt Racing, further resulting in Darren Manning’s contract not being renewed and, because Kanaan ended up with Andretti Green instead of Ganassi, Dario Franchitti rounded out the shake-up by signing with Ganassi Racing in the end. As if this wasn’t enough to digest, IRL heavyweight Helio Castroneves topped off the 2008 IndyCar season with a shocking scandal, ending in an indictment by the U.S. government on one count of conspiracy to defraud and six counts of tax evasion, facing 35 years in prison while potentially losing his coveted spot with Penske Racing.

It’s undisputable that the 2008 IRL season has been one wild ride, and it was Ganassi’s Scott Dixon who held on the longest, crossing the finish line the most and coming out on top of the IndyCar Series with a total of 646 points, beating out Penske’s Helio Castroneves (629), Andretti Green’s Tony Kanaan (513), Ganassi’s Dan Wheldon (492), Penske’s Ryan Briscoe (447), Andretti Green’s Danica Patrick (379) and Marco Andretti (363), Rahal Letterman’s Ryan Hunter-Reay (360), KV Racing’s Oriol Servia (358) and Andretti Green’s Hideki Mutoh (346), who round out the top ten in the IndyCar standings for the year.

Although this year’s IndyCar season is officially over, it won’t be long until these gentlemen (and ladies) start their engines once again. The 2009 IndyCar Series will commence on April 5, 2009, so dust off that checkered flag and head over to http://www.stubhub.com/irl-tickets-indy-car-series/ to get tickets for next year’s IRL season, as seats to these big shows sell out early!

In their more than 100 years of existence the Reds have enjoyed good success. They won the inaugural AA season in 1882 and thereafter won the World Series five times ? 1919, 1940, 1975, 1976 and 1990. They have made the postseason 12 times and won NL pennants 10 times.

The 1930s are an important period for the club as it saw the Reds come out of bankruptcy brought about by The Great Depression. The Crosley brothers, Powel and Lewis, bought the Reds and made the club a contender once again. Before the end of the decade the Reds were back in top form and come 1940 beat the Detroit Tigers en route to winning their second World Series title.

For a brief time in the 1950s, the Reds were forced to change their name to the ?Redlegs,? no thanks to the arrival of the Red Scare during the period. The owners felt that the name ?Reds? might be associated with communism which at that time was growing in popularity. Eventually the team reverted to the ?Reds? at the start of the next decade.
The ?60s ushered in the advent of future stars for the Reds. Jim Maloney, Pete Rose, Tony Perez, Johnny Bench and Gary Nolan were some of the players who came on board and team up with future Hall-of-Famer Frank Robinson.

The 1970s though could be considered as the team?s best period in the Majors. During this time the Reds piled winning records in all but one year (1971) in the disco years. Bannered by a team that was fittingly called ?The Big Red Machine,? the Reds made the decade a time to remember for the franchise as they won back-to-back World Series titles in 1975 and 1976, and won NL pennants four times.

The ?80s were a down time for the Reds that saw them struggle, highlighted by numerous controversies, notably the banning of legend Rose by the MLB for his involvement in gambling. But as has been customary for the club, the Reds rose again from obscurity to take their fifth World Series championship in 1990.

Cincinnati Reds recent news

The rebuilding process that started last season with the departure of mainstays Ken Griffey Jr., Adam Dunn and David Ross continues for the Reds this offseason as they try to make their way back to competitiveness. They are training their sights on improving their offense, possibly a right-hand hitter, who could deliver the goods consistently for the team. Jocketty and the Reds are mulling going the way of free agency but are also considering player acquisitions via direct trades.

Starting all over again may prove downright messy and ugly at times. But the Reds throughout their existence have shown the ability to rise from the ashes. And with a young nucleus that has so much potential, the future for the Reds looks bright.
