Did Your Teachers Speak About 9/11 In Your School?

They make a HUGE deal about it in my school since I live in Manhattan. My homeroom teacher on Friday spoke about it. After we said the pledge our principal named some people who passed away during 9/11 and we had 10 minutes of silence. My language arts teacher had us right a short report about where we were and what we were doing during 9/11. Then my history teacher spoke about it. At lunch we had American Flag cookies and they were playing songs about America like, "God Bless America", "Star Spangled Banner", and a few others. Then at the last half hour of the day everyone gathered in the gym for a short memorial. The school band was there playing some songs. Then they had some kids (they looked about 10) speaking about how their parents died, or their uncle, or aunt, or brother, etc. died in 9/11. It was sad. I’m 14 and I moved to Manhattan from Brooklyn when I was 8. They make a bigger deal about it here then they did in Brooklyn.

How much do you love God and America?

The Star Spangled Banner, Francis Scott Key 1814

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Is there something fundamentally creepy about Obama?

Seriously, Does he raise some big red flags? Obama-is too close to Oh bomb us and Osama Bin Laden. He really skirts around the fact weather or not he is muslim. He turns his back when the star spangled banner is being played. You’ll also never see him put his hand over his heart. He has a picture of the comunist leader that started the Cuban Missle Crisis all over his campghain offices. It makes you wonder what he really stands for he sure does not care much for the constitution do we really want a president like that that diregaurds everything we stand for in office. Oh yeah and it is no secrect that he does not like black people and he tries to skirts around his hatred of white people too so what is he and what does he stand for? Is there something fundementally creepy about this man?

Britain-USA Recognition?

I just figured I’d conduct a little survey. Decide which you think would be most easily recognized by the vast majority of the world’s population. Literal, relevant answers only would be preferable.

1. Which is the most recognized capital? – a) London; b) Washington, D.C.

2. Whom is the most recognized leader? – a) Elizabeth II; b) Barack Obama

3. Which is the most recognized national anthem? – a) God Save the Queen; b) The Star-Spangled Banner

4. Which is the most recognized governmental estate? – a) Buckingham Palace; b) The White House

5. Which is the most recognized executive’s guard? – a) Palace Guard; b) Marine Guard

6. Which is the most recognized flag? – a) Union Jack; b) U.S. flag (no formal name)

7. Which is the most recognized WWII ship? – a) HMS Hood; b) USS Indianapolis

8. Which is the most recognized airline? – a) British Airways; b) American Airlines

9. Which is the most recognized document? – a) Magna Carta; b) Constitution

10. Which is the most recognized patriotic song? – a) Rule Britannia; b) Let Freedom Ring

11. Which is the most recognized police force? – a) London Metropolitan (bobbies); b) NYPD

12. Whom is the most recognized writer? – a) Dickinson; b) Poe

14. Which is the most recognized city area? – a) Picadilly Circus; b) Times Square

15. Which is the most recognized university? – a) Oxford; b) Harvard

I realize some of the questions are a bit of a stretch – I didn’t really have time to plan this all out; why I’d waste time doing that anyway, I don’t know. But, please answer these to the best of your knowledge, and thanks!

Note: This is NOT based on opinion. Do not vote "U.S." each time just because you are American, or only "Britain" because you’re British. This is based on what the world as a whole, not just Britain and the U.S. would recognize best. Once again, this is not based on your personal opinions. I am doing this survey as part of a project, so don’t answer nonsensically. Thanks for your help.

What's your favorite part to the beginning of a race?

when you are attenging one. Is it seeing the cars lined up in pit row, the band playing, The Star Spangled Banner being sung, driver introduction, starting of the engines, fighter jets flying over, that first beer going down (snicker), drop of the green flag…..
or maybe something else. What trips your trigger or gets your blood pumping when you attend a race? I enjoy the jets immensly, but when the driver’s start their engines I can feel my heart accelerate and a rush of adrenaline.
Boy…we got serious NASCAR fans here so far.

Does anyone else have this fantasy?

So, you’re at a huge sporting event. Thousands of people are there, but when it comes time to sing the national anthem prior to the game, there is a problem and the singer doesn’t show. SO, the announcer asks the crowd if there is anyone out there that can sing, who would be willing to sub in.

So you raise your hand…

The spotlight shines on you as you rise and start walking towards the playing area. Your friends are looking at each other in surprise, as they realize your about to do an impromptu "Star Spangled Banner" in front of everybody. The tech guy hands you a microphone and leads you out to the center of the playing area and you stand there while the crowd goes completely silent, waiting for your performance.

As you open your mouth and sing the first line, you realize that your voice has been transformed, as if by a divine presence, into a majestic, beautiful singing voice. Like a combination of Stevie Wonder and Pavarotti. Just as you get to "And the rockets red glare.." The marching band joins in! And simultaneously, an enormous American flag unravels behind you. Your singing is so beautiful, people begin to weep uncontrollably, sick people are healed, cripples get up to walk…

As you finish the song and walk back to your seat, the crowd goes absolutely batshit crazy with cheer and praise. The cheerleaders flash their tits at you, the coaches and players shake your hand and hug you..

You see your crush in the crowd smiling, with tears rolling down her face as she runs to meet you, embracing and telling you she loves you.

I do.
