So, do these flags represent traditional values for those that fly these flags, or would not condoning the darker side of the history of these flags, be enough for most people to decide not to fly these flags any longer?

For both, the race in power, considered themselves to be a master race, over another/others… I really don’t see how that is different from the Confederate South, to Nazi Germany….

Different times, different circumstances, different politics, but I think the idea of one race convincing themselves they actually deserve some sort of dominance, or to be "master’s" of another race is a very big similarity… To the point that Aryan’s even today, will fly either flag interchangeably, to promote this very idea.

There are three flagpoles in City Hall Plaza in Boston. The U.S. flag and Massachusetts state flag are always displayed on the first two flagpoles, but every day the third flagpole changes, and it’s always a different foreign country. So far I’ve seen the flags of Lithuania, Norway, and New Zealand.

Yesterday for example, they had the flag of Haiti.

It is technically legal for the city to do this (as long as the American flag is flown higher than the other flags). It’s just a little odd, in my view, to fly the banners of foreign nations with no apparent significance or relevance.

Should we report those who fly other banners on their own, like the Mexican flag, etc?

Advice please from people who know stuff:

What kind of paint can I use that will not crack, but will be durable and flexible enough to allow the separated flags to fly?

Would you recommend or advise against painting both sides of the flags? (advantage being that when split, someone waving the single flag could still convey the full WE ARE LEINSTER message- disadvantage would be added weight and possible loss of flexibility depending on the paint).

Dear Editor,

I believe you (meaning this organization) have chosen the wrong word to fly your flag on. In short, I believe that tolerance is unacceptable. Rest assured that this is not the ranting of the religious right, or the wailing of a white supremacist. This is a protest to the use of tolerance as an ethic.
Tolerance is an acceptable variation from a standard, however looked at philosophically,"That which is not right is wrong." If we set our standard by the right, how can tolerance be anything but wrong.

Over and over again in the media, and from groups such as Teaching Tolerance, we hear tolerance, the acceptance of wrong, praised and expounded as an admirable ethic. anyone who lets their logos fraternize with their ethos will tell you that this is ridiculous. To Teach Tolerance is to teach that there is an acceptable wrong, and that it should not only be embraced, but that embracing it is a goal unto itself.

Suppose that we did embrace toleration as an ethic. To do this would be to accept the belief that embracing acceptable deviation from a standard,(tolerance), is in and of itself a moral standard (ethic).
This means that tolerance as ethic makes accepting deviation from a standard a standard, which is as we all know, an oxymoron.
Q.E.D. Proof by contradiction.
This was not written to recruit idealists, but rather to encourage realists to embrace logically sound principles.While the logical reader has been forced to abandon tolerance as an ethic, it is important for them to note that tolerance is both necessary and proper in many situations, however it is no substitute for the right.

If you want to combat issues of racism, gay hate, classism, or sexism, why not use a real ethic, respect.
