Identify this double-headed european eagle insignia (with picture)?

I bought this square of red flannel-like fabric with a double-headed brown eagle in the center. I have a couple old european flags and since this thing was like .50 and I liked it I decided to buy it.

I don’t believe it is any sort of flag or banner though, it just looks like a square of fabric.

Does anyone know what it is or what is the point of it being printed as a square of fabric?

(the pictures are not that great, the camera was acting strange; color is more dark in person)

If the picture doesn’t work please let me know!
Oh, and that’s just some red tape on it. I tried to peel it off but it leaves a paper residue behind, so I left it for now.
In each corner is a different small sheild as well, I can try to take a better picture if anyone cares to see if they know what this is.
Thank you so much! It is reversible and I probably took a picture of the back side.

So it is a slight variation of the Austrian imperial arms from a 16th century illustration? I looked up the official Austrian imperial arms and it was a bit more flowery than in this print.

I wonder why who ever made it chose to use that. I’m guessing this is some sort of a souvenir or something. Does anyone have any idea of when or why it was printed or if it is a souvenir?

Oh it may actually be original? That would be really amazing to have found something that old!

What is the meaning or theme to the following?

Glory be to God perfected,
All the garbage got collected.
My street, once dark and neglected,
Now is all lit up and glowing.
And they strung across the street
A banner painted on a sheet,
And paper flags, red as a beet,
Green and yellow, freely blowing.

And now as the sun is setting,
Skirts are fluttering and fretting
Underneath a flowered netting,
So that from above it covers
How on this midsummer night
People of every stripe
Share their bread to the last bite,
And their spouses and their lovers.

Hurry up, I’ll be there waiting if you want to come,
For night is falling and our miseries are slowly going numb.
Let’s climb the hill to the party,
For up on my street the fiesta’s starting.

Now they’re dancing, slob and dandy,
And the peasant and the grandee.
As each takes the other’s hand, he
Pays no mind to his position.
Then the sun will find them camped
In the shade of a street lamp,
Full of liquor, hot and damp,
Touching girls without permission.

And, hung over to their bladders,
Go the poor back to their tatters,
Go the rich back to their scatters,
And the preacher to his ravings.
Now good and evil are awake,
The poor fox goes to the gate,
The rich fox goes to his stake,
And the miser to his savings.

It’s the end, the sun is telling us it’s good and done.
For just one night we could forget that everyone is only one.
Then down the hill we’ll have wended,
For up on my street the fiesta’s ended.

Is there still anybody who thinks the revolution in Egypt is not richclass vs. working class?

"Several thousand people outside Mustafa Mahmoud Mosque in the upper-class neighborhood of Mohandiseen waved Egyptian flags and carried a large printed banner with Mubarak’s face. Many passing cars honked in apparent support."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110202/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_egypt

So, there it is: "…upper-class neighborhood …carried a large printed banner with Mubarak’s face."

Wow. Too bad there’s no tough working class like that in the US, and they’re all a bunch of service mice.

And is there still anybody who thinks the revolution in Egypt is not richclass vs. working class?
@Correction: service > servile
@BlackSun – Wrong. Movement is for democracy.

Help With French Please?

Ok, so I’m doing a project for art, and we need to make a banner of ourselves and our goals and aspirations. I really want to teach in France, Germany, and Japan (I want to teach English). So, I was thinking I’d sew flags and affix them to the banner, paste some cool pictures on, and give a small bio about me in French, German, and Japanese. Problem is, I don’t know French or Japanese (German I’m good, haha). So, I was wondering if anyone knew French and could help me out by translating this:

Hello, my name is Crystal! I love to read, and am interested in different cultures. My favourite foods include macaroni and cheese and sushi, and my favourite colour is green!

I’m going to put different hobbies and interests in all three languages, so don’t just translate that if you know Japanese, too! I’d appreciate it if you really knew French, and didn’t look it up in a translator, which is exactly the reason I’m asking others, instead of just doing that myself!

(I hope that all made sense, I’m pretty tired right now, haha!)

I'm already confused by Latin (help please)?

I took a Latin class (1 and 2 actually) for my school year because I’ve always been interested in the language, but after the first day I’ve found myself confused. The first thing we learned about was how we pronounced the Vs like Ws (classic Latin apparently). The first words we learned where Bene Ventum, which she told us meant welcome in Latin. I looked it up in a translator and got "melior to come", which doesn’t sound like welcome to me.

The last thing I asked her was how to pronounce vexillum (it seems to be a common worried in video games that have flags or banners), and the way she told me to pronounce it would almost be like "waxillum" in English.

I’m super excited to be in a Latin class, but I’m just wondering if the way she’s teaching us might be different from what other people might use/say words. Is what she’s telling us accurate? Possibly watered down versions of the words considering this is just the first course?

Do you stand and salute during the star-spangled banner at sporting events?

I was at a Minor league game yesterday because there was a fireworks show afterwards. I was with a bunch of people from my church..and as usual the National Anthem started playing. I contemplated it for a few seconds before I stood and put my hand on my heart. It’s not that I don’t like America so much as it is that I dislike the state. I generally view flag-waving patriotism as paying homage to the state. The only reason I did so at this event was because I didn’t feel like starting a conundrum. You know how peer pressure goes. It just wasn’t worth the hassle of defending my seemingly "disrespectful" irreverence towards the state.

If it was something like the Pledge of allegiance, I probably would have stood out of respect for those around me, but I wouldn’t have said the words.

No, I don’t spit on veterans or burn flags. My dad was a marine for heaven’s sake.
My dad knows I’m no fan of the government.
By salute I mean standing and putting your hand over your heart….Not an actual military salute. My dad doesn’t even salute the flag like that.

Where to Islamic protestors get all of their American flags?

You pretty much always see a few burning everyday over there. Where do they get all of these flags if they can’t even get a t-shirt without walking 50 miles? It seems like every extreme Islamist has a backup stash of 50 flags just in-case he/she needs to protest that day.
