I am doing a little research for my Human Sexuality class. I was asked to figure out someone’s opinion on why the rainbow flag is used as the banner, the center, of homosexual organizations like the LGBT and for homosexuals all around. My thinking was that the colors are all different, yet work together to make something beautiful. Just like there are many different people around us and the hope is that someday we’ll all be able to come together. That’s just my theory. But I’m curious about other people’s thoughts.

I was just in Orlando and bought a hat that I had never seen before, and I can’t find the logo online either. It is a hat by American Needle in the Cooperstown Collection. Inside lining says "Original Eight".

On the back of the hat, it has the gold "M" from the 70′s logos. The hat is royal blue on the sides and back, with the front panel in the gold. (Same colors as 70s & 80s).

The logo has 3 guys (look like 1800s German beer brewers) riding a barrel. The bottom of the barrel has the state of Wisconsin with some emblem in it. The guy on the left is holding a flag and the guy on the right is holding a bat. All 3 look like they have a feather in their hat or hair. (The detail is hard to make out because it is all in blue and gold with small detail).

If anybody knows anything about this logo it’d be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Yeah I know, I have looked all over and the Brewers website doesn’t show it as a logo either. I don’t know if it was their logo from around 1901 before they moved to Baltimore? Or I didn’t know if it could have been an old Beloit Brewers minor league hat? It does have the Milwaukee M on the back and the tag says Milwaukee Brewers, so somehow it is affiliated with the Brewers. This is going to bug the crap out of me. Hopefully Bud Selig goes on Yahoo Answers and can help me out!

Decorative Garden Flags – Revel in the colors and vibrancy of decorative flags

In today’s world, a ‘happy new year’ or a ‘thank you’ – however courteous and sincere they may be– are often considered just a drab, flat and inadequate expression of joy, thrill or gratitude. No wonder then, gifts have come to play such an important role in the expression of our feelings.

But there are some gifts that evoke a lot more feeling than others. Decorative flags fall into that category. A flag seems to have that inexplicable power to stand way above human language when used as a tool of expression of one’s subtle and intricate feelings and emotions.

Decorate your home and garden? Check out our selection of Garden Flags

Decorated with colorful designs and various shades, the eclectic combinations and nuances of colors of a decorative flag compensate for our linguistic deficiencies. Whether loud and pompous or subtle and elegant, colors speak the language that words fail to express. Decorative flags infuse the environment with liveliness, vibrancy and vivacity, while never failing to command a sense of awe and respect.
Unlike national flags, decorative flags are not subject to restrictions and protocol, and these can be hoisted on stands and placed on one’s work and study tables. They can also be hoisted against walls or displayed like luminaries or streamers in the house rooms and courtyards, with their constant visual presence serving as a steady reminder of what they represent.

Send Gifts? Check out our selection of New Year Flags

Made from different materials like a piece of ordinary cloth, a paper or even a plastic sheet, these flags may not mean much in monetary value, but their power lies in the ability to still kindle powerful feelings. Like paintings where every stroke and every shade connote a different meaning, colors on a flag communicate different emotions. For example, the red color denotes hope (sanguine) and enthusiasm, green stands for peace, yellow for bravery, and so on. The phrase ‘flying colors’ is etymologically associated with a flying, fluttering colorful flag.
Experience the loftiest feelings of pride in belonging, joy in individuality, celebration of oneness and love in the myriad colors of decorative flags available on our online flag store, which boasts an unmatched selection of flags, suitable for every occasion that merits the giving of gifts.

What’s your take on this?

Also I’ve provide some links as to what the colours mean:

http://bonasdancesite.homestead.com/index.html

http://www.topraise.net/pages/ropaw/colors.htm

Not during the mass, I’m not catholic.
The bible has many references to this kind of dancing w/ these items.

Also, why is an athiest(the cavemen commenter) answering this question, when it’s something he clearly does not believe in.

Make Your Event Website Pop With Logos And Colors

The logo and colors provide the face for your event and can help to build credibility. It is always a good idea to include your organization’s logo on registration forms to lend the credibility of that entity to the event itself. However, creating a separate logo for the event itself can help you convey more ideas than your company logo can on its own.

Adding your company logo to your event marketing materials like flyers, emails, invitations, registration forms, and event websites is imperative, especially when your company or organization is an industry-wide expert or a household name. For example, Zig Ziglar conferences or Yahoo! Search Marketing seminars always rely on the brand recognition of the parent company to help create notoriety and credibility for their events. Using your organization’s logo also helps to create consistency when you send registrants from your homepage to the registration form. Seeing a prominent reference to your parent organization reminds the registrant that the event is presented with the same quality and attention to detail that they have already experienced.

You should also consider creating a logo specifically for your event especially if the event has a large following and is building its own branding. It is not a bad idea to incorporate the general theme of your organization’s logo into the event-specific logo, including the colors, shapes and fonts. However, make sure to give the event logo its own identity or twist which makes it unique from your primary logo. If you need inspiration for elements to add to the event logo you can take inspiration from the properties of the event itself. Consider the event venue (located in Florida? Consider adding a palm tree.), the type of event (what golf tournament logo is complete without a club, flag or ball?), and the industry. It may seem cliché to use imagery like this but remember that you are trying to get registrants to identify with the idea of your event at a glance via the logo.

Making use of your company colors contributes to the consistency of the registration process, especially when using online registration system to run your event. A more consistent feel from the invitation to the website to the registration will make your efforts seem more coordinated and organized which makes registrants more receptive to your message. The colors you use don’t have to exactly mirror the scheme used on your parent organization’s website, try playing with a new pattern, or add another color to the scheme to make the event materials feel fresh and cutting edge. You could also consider using gradients and glass effects to further the ‘cutting-edge’ styling.

Minority neighbor has numerous loud, very late night parties. Asking him to chill at 10 didn’t work, and calling the cops is getting old. Monday we put up 3 flag poles, starting tuesday morning at 8 am sharp I held colors in front of the house. played the Stars Spangled Banner while raising the American flag at max volume, then on the shorter poles I put up a Confederate Battle flag while dixie played and a nazi flag while the Horst lied blasted away. He came out and didn’t say anything, but he was obviously mad. I fiqure I have put up with him for 6 months, so he can hear my "colors" for the next six months, hope he also enjoys those flags flapping in the wind all day.

Colors of the American Flag

I would imagine that even before the ink on the Declaration of Independence had dried, the sentences: “Are we gonna have a flag? We gotta have a flag! Britain has a flag!” were echoed by members of the Continental Congress. But then, a flag is important. It is a symbol representing a group and their beliefs — a means of identification.

It has long been reported that in May of 1776, Betsy Ross sewed the first version of the flag we use today. The American flag has, of course, gone through several design transformations since then, as states were added to the nation and stars were added to the design.

Symbolism Abounding

Unique and appealing as the design is, I think our flag is also full of symbolism. To me, the red stripes indicate courage, blood and suffering. The white stripes mean truth, purity and open-mindedness. The word stripes, itself, is associated with oppressions, struggles, punishments and lessons learned. An enduring flag represents a state of surving or coming-of-age the hard way.

To me, the stars on our flag represent goals, dreams and the future — what we all aim for, in our own way — the infinite, the stars. The color blue is usually identified with peace, tranquility and spirituality. Hopefully, our dreams and future will be surrounded by peace and spirituality, just as the stars on the flag are surrounded by the blue.

Our flag is very much like our country. It is woven together by many threads, just as our nation is woven together by many nationalities, religions, philosophies and personalities.

The flag needs to be held up and supported to wave free, just as our country needs support to continue to remain as free as it has been. Any little breeze can cause a reaction. A harsh wind can make the flag angrily whip around on its foundation. But, even when it becomes weathered and torn, hanging on by only a few strands, as long as it is still connected to its foundation, it will continue to hang on and wave freely. It’s the wind blowing against the flag that keeps it waving, that allows the stars (as well as the stripes) to be seen. It’s the winds of properly-channeled protest and criticism brought against a nation that keeps it changing and shaping and thus, prevents it from sinking into a false euphoria or apathy…or worse.

Not as Simple as it Seems

The flag is not black and white, and neither are most issues involving it. You will note, that there is one more red stripe than white, showing that there will be more pain and struggle than there will be purity and truth.

An amendment (“H.J. Res.10″) giving Congress the power to prohibit the physical desecration of the flag, has been up for vote several times. However, “desecration” means more than being burned or shredded in anger and protest. Through the popular sale of interpretated versions of our flag that’s been placed on items ranging from paper notebooks and jewelry, to shirts and table cloths, it’s been proven that the flag has a marketing appeal as well as a patriotic one. But Title 4, Section 8-d, 8-g and 8-i of the U.S. Code (rules and regulations) forbids wearing it or placing an image of it on anything that is meant to be thrown away. The code also says that it is not be be used for advertising purposes. Therefore, it is always interesting to see how “desecration” is interpretated.

An Implied Pledge?

Any flag represents a nation or group’s future, as well as it’s past. So, before you burn it or praise it, condemn it or pledge allegiance to it, you should take another look at it and really see it for what it represents.

Sometimes I think that our nation’s “pledge” has gone to another rectangular object…a green one. With all the crime and corruption in this country, it’s as if the “Pledge of Allegiance” has been subconsciously rewritten to:

I pledge allegiance to the dollar
of the United States of America.
And to the buying power for which it stands.
One cartel, under the stock exchange, insatiable,
with affluence and greed for the fortunate.

May Our Flag Always Wave Free!

Since the 9-11 tragedy, the red, white and blue American flag has been seen on more cars and flying from more buildings than ever. Maybe we should continue to wave our flag even more and be ever cautious to see that it continues to represent the freedom, justice and integrity for which it has always been known.
