Three weeks ago Dale Earnhardt Jr was made an "honorary" or pseudo winner at Talladega and given the checkered flag. I presume because he has had quite a winless streak going that they had to make his fans happy with the gesture.

I’m going on a limb in assuming that Brain France will do the same thing this weekend and even if Jr is out of it they will hand him another checkered flag. Especially since he has never won there, it would be a great "PR" stunt.

Will JR get another honorary victory?

NASCAR was put on the radar in 1959 with the Inaugural Daytona 500. However now, the sport of NASCAR is starting to fly off that very same radar due to one man and his winning spirits. That man, Jimmie Johnson has been winning races, championships, awards and pretty much everything else in the sport for the last 5 years. This accomplishment ranked him amongst the best of sports all stars, such as the New York Yankees in the MLB or the Lebron James of the NBA. However it also came at a price as of the 31 events from 2009, 26 races suffered ratings declines in 2010.
Now all of this may have something to do with the pothole plagued Daytona 500 which FOX’s statistics revealed suffered a 16% decline in viewership as well. But it doesn’t really matter as 11 of the 16 races with double-digit drops were on ESPN, three were on TNT and two were on Fox. However, interesting enough in five races ratings actually increased. The races were on Fox: Phoenix, Talladega and Darlington and one was on TNT (Daytona) as well as one was on ABC (Bristol). Jimmie Johnson had not won these races, and other drivers had taken the checkered flag instead ranging from Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch So maybe Mr. Johnson does impact the sport in more than one way.

NASCAR is about the checkered flag. Drivers like 88 just go out for a Sunday drive, Picking up the lucky dog is good, but I wanted to see effort on his part. it wasn’t there. All I saw was his team hauling ass out of there after the race. Saves a lot of time when you don’t have to do a victory lap.

88 fans say "his car did well for 15 laps with new tires, you don’t know anything about racing."

I saw 88 in a piss poor performance yesterday and all the JR nation expertise didn’t get 88 in the top ten at all day yesterday,Did it?

so i’m 16 and friday i’m going to my friends halloween party, guys and girls. I wanted to be something simple: a race car girl

so i was gonna wear a tanktop that says roadway assistance or whatever then a high waisted skirt and fishnet stockings with heels and a hat (it says lincoln on it with the car symbol) and im gonna get a checkered flag ..

does that sound stupid or good?

me and a couple friends of mine have been having gun races.Today I raced my 25-06 against a 243 and a 270.We have a real hard time finding somebody to stand at the targets and wave a checkered flag though.We just watch real close and see whose bullet hits the target first.Heres some of the current results if you are interested.25-06 vs 243,winner was a 25-06.243 versus 30-06,winner was 243,25-06 versus 270,winner was 25-06.270 vs30-30,270 won.We also raced the 25-06 against the speed of light,25-06 won.So far,im ahead in the pole standings with a Ruger 77 25-06.
