Forgot about my Porsche

Forgot about my Porsche

There has been two stories n the news this week about celebrities or the stupidly rich losing their cars or even forgetting they owned it. Jenson Button, the 2009 Formula 1 World Champion’s father John Button and Stoke City footballer Jermaine Pennant are the culprits.

John Button “misplaced” his Ferrari 550 in the Italian Riviera, the police had to find it for him. Button said, “It’s all a bit embarrassing, but the roads that lead into Alassio and Laigueglia are almost identical, even the railings look the same, and they both have a fork in them. The police found it quite amusing,’ said Button, ‘and once things had been resolved said, ‘Give our regards to Jenson’.”

John Button is getting on a bit now, so I can almost forgive him and to be honest we’ve all lost our cars in multi storey car parks before. Jermaine Pennant on the other hand completely forgot he left his £98,000 Porsche parked in a Spanish train station for five months. He had purchased the Porsche while playing for Spanish side Real Zaragoza, since this revelation Pennant has denied owning the car; only thing is the car’s number plate reads “P33NNT”.

I wish I had the financial might to forget about cars worth the same as some houses. My friend once thought his car was stolen, he reported it to the police, and they found it parked down the road – where he had left it the night before!

You know how we have trackers fitted to our cars so that we can find them if they are stolen, well maybe cars should get their owners fitted with trackers, so that every time they move 20 miles away from the car they get an alert of some sort. In fact all <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://www.johnsonscars.co.uk”>used cars in Birmingham</a> should come with this as standard.

I wish I had the financial might to forget about cars worth the same as some houses. My friend once thought his car was stolen, he reported it to the police, and they found it parked down the road – where he had left it the night before!

A Little Bit About the State of Florida

A Little Bit About the State of Florida

When people think of Florida, the first things that normally come to mind are Disney World and seasonal hurricanes.  But there’s so much more to this wonderful state that gives it a rich history, and bright future, and makes it a current hot-spot for politics, education and science, national military strength, and monetary power.

The State
Sharing state borders with Alabama and Georgia, it is much better known for its proximity to water, including the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic Ocean.  With 1,350 miles of coast, the “Sunshine State” has the longest continuous coastline in the continental United States.  In 2009 this southern state was the 4th most populated state in America.  The state seal is a complex circular design including images of a steamer ship, waterways, a tall palm tree, flowers, marshy fauna, and a woman standing on a beach with the sun on the horizon in the background of it all.  The state flag is simply this seal placed on the crossing point of of a red “X” stretching from each corner.

Tallahassee: The State Capital
For being such a significant city in the state, Tallahassee has a remarkably “small town” feel.  Located in the beginnings of the “Florida Panhandle” in Leon County, the state’s capital is also home to several well-known institutions of higher learning, most notably Florida State University and Florida A&M University.  One the city’s greatest distinctions is having the third oldest police force in the nation.  The Tallahassee Police Department was established in 1841, behind the Philadelphia Police Department and the Boston Police Department.  This city which combines “college town” excitement with the seriousness of bureaucracy, government, law, and justice was established in 1824 in what was then a U.S. Territory.  The state capital is also a base for scientific research, housing the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory which, as its name suggests, focuses on magnet research.  This laboratory is the biggest and highest-powered of its kind in the world.

Jacksonville: The Largest City
Bordering the Atlantic Ocean, Jacksonville is the largest city by both size and population in this vacationing state.  Located in the county of Duval, it is also the 13th largest city by population in the country with more than 1,300,000 people, as well as the largest in terms of land in America.  Just south of the Georgia border (blocked only by the Floridian county of Nassau), Jacksonville was originally a French Colony in 1564 making it one of the earliest European settlements in the United States.  Eventually coming to the U.S. by way of Spain in the early 1820s, the settlement was named after the President, Andrew Jackson who was also the first military governor of the then-territory.  Now, it houses two U.S. Navy bases and one large deep-water sea port, making it the third largest military presence in America.  While its local economy is known for healthcare, banking, and insurance, it cannot escape being a part of a high-traffic, tourist state.  It is best known for its golfing, in that regard.

Business Debt Relief – 3 Reasons To Think About Debt Scoring

Business Debt Relief – 3 Reasons To Think About Debt Scoring

In today’s challenging and difficult economy, organizations of all sizes are facing ever-growing delinquencies in their accounts receivable and expanding debt portfolios. Whereas any organization’s internal collection processes serve an essential role in collecting on past due delinquent accounts, many companies simply don’t have the resources, time and expertise necessary to recover consistently and effectively on these unpaid accounts.

In addition, most organizations squander precious money, time and assets, not having a well thought out plan when it comes to collecting their outstanding, past due debts. Most organizations don’t know, for example, that about 90% of successful collections occurs with about 50% of any given debt portfolio. The fact is, many organizations waste precious time going after accounts that aren’t apt to pay at all. The dilemma is which 50% to go after?

Debt scoring is more becoming an effective and cost beneficial tool for companies to better speak to the problem of collecting on their delinquent receivables.

What is debt scoring? Debt scoring is essentially a probabilities forecasting model. By employing mathematical algorithms and formulas, scoring has the ability to take your business debt portfolio, and forecast, with precision, a debtor’s probability of paying their debts, which accounts are liable to go into default, which are likely to be written off, and which ones to outsource to a collection agency. Debt scoring uses information, such as your own company’s internal accounts receivable and collection performance data, along with other key important information. This can predict, with reasonable accuracy, a customer’s payment pattern and behavior.

Equipped with this central information, businesses can make decisions earlier and map out an effective debt collection strategy and course of action. These decisions can be made on a customer-specific basis.

Here are 3 reasons why your business should think about debt scoring for your delinquent receivables:

You can direct your internal debt collection efforts on the accounts that are more likely to pay you. This will reduce staffing costs and save time. You can concentrate on the accounts that will pay sooner, and outsource the more “problem” accounts to a debt collection agency.

Debt scoring can help save accounts before they go into default. For example, banks and credit unions can better monitor the state of their loans, checking and share draft accounts. They can then better predict which accounts to direct more attention on, before they go into default. Again, the more problem accounts can be siphoned off to a collection agency.

With debt scoring, you can execute more tailored collection strategies, specific to the particular customer, based on the level of difficulty. This again, saves time, money and staffing obligations.
