If an application for a passport is denied due to owed child support is it possible?
that the debtor is flagged by customs if he tries to take a vacation/cruise anyway?

it depends on if there is a warrant for the back child support. nine times out of ten this happens, so it is quite possible. it needs to be taken care of before they try and take the vacation.

My sisters boyfriend is behind on his child support. He was going to goto Mexico to get married. You don’t have to have a passport to go there but if you want to get married there you have to have one. He couldn’t get one because he is behind on his support.
I wouldn’t book anything unless you knew for sure. That would suck if paid for the trip and couldn’t go.
Of course this is an easy fix – Don’t be late on your child support. I’m sure who ever is taking care of your kids needs it.

Yes it is possible, Under laws put in motions in early 2003 the department of child support enforcement has access to just about everything that a police officer has. If you owe it then most likey now or sometime in the near future a warrent will be issued, which will show up everywhere.

Worse things than being flagged will happen if you try to enter a country without a passport.
You could be taken into custody and have to wait in jail until an immigration judge can arraign you – and often, that can take days.
This is what could happen in the US – every other country is tougher!
