Auto World was an indoor park that was built in 1984 to attract tourists to the city of Flint, which was suffering economically. I don’t know how or why Six Flags got involved with it since it did not resemble any other Six Flags park in any way. There weren’t any roller coasters there.
I remember first hearing about the place back in 1989 when I first saw the Michael Moore film "Roger & Me". The film has actual footage of the place inside. There apparently was an area the replicated downtown Flint before it hit its economic crisis. From the footage, it is not surprising to know that the park closed due to a lack of visitors and was later demolished.
The place didn’t look like something that could attract repeat visitors. As Michael Moore put it in the film "People would rather not celebrate human tragedy while on vacation", referring to all of the auto plants closing.
