Are cities allowed to promote/show political Flags and Banners?
If possible, can you cite the law name or ref # or where it say that legally? Thanks
Are cities allowed to put banners on street light or flags of, for example, something promoting or showing ties with the democrat or republican party? Are they allowed to put banners or flags of anything promoting something political? Or is it illegal since its on public property? What types banners/flags can you put on street lights and what can’t you?

There’s no law that specifically allows it, but it’s not illegal. It’s just not a great idea; because they’re elected officials too, and they’d risk offending the people in their town who vote the other way. There are staunch Republicans who live in typically liberal cities like San Francisco and New York, and there are Liberals who live in small towns all over the midwest. Just because they aren’t the majority where they live, is no reason to write them off.
The exception would probably be during the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, at which point cities are usually willing to deck out in the colors of the party they’re hosting that year.
